Destination Haifa

Sea, sun, beach, forest and history - Haifa has it all. Israel’s third largest city is built on the slopes of Mount Carmel with a decidedly European flavour. Haifa has golden beaches, two major university campuses, the historic Germany colony by Haifa port, the prophet Elijah's Cave and the Baha’i gardens and golden dome. The most outstanding feature of Haifa is its green, lush panoramic views of the Bay of Haifa and the Mediterranean Sea. The magnificent combination of sea and mountain, with many pine trees, provide never-ending opportunities for breath taking views as you travel up Mount Carmel.
Haifa is divided into three areas – ‘Downtown’ at the bottom of Mount Carmel, includes the port, bus and train stations, government buildings and businesses. The ‘Hadar’ section in the middle of the city features commercial and shopping districts and some older residential areas. The Mount Carmel  ridge, on top, is mostly residential and restaurants. At the very bottom are some of Israel's best beaches and at the very top, some of Israel's most magnificent forests, the Carmel Forest (also called Little Switzerland).
There is a wide choice of holiday accommodation for visitors: Bed and Breakfast, holiday apartments in Haifa, vacation rentals, or rent a room – there are all types of low budget lodging in Haifa. The Ben Gurion Airport is just 120 kms away, a quick drive to the prettiest city in Israel, or a train will take you directly from the airport. So if you are coming to the Holy land, don’t miss a holiday in Haifa.
